•What are the necessary classroom conditions to ensure that this peer-assessment activity is productive?
•What scaffold/instruction was provided to students before the peer-assessment?
•What is the instructor/teacher’s role in peer-assessment?

For the year 10 students, the scaffolding included the teacher gave an example, the students were given time to collaborate on why they got a certain mark, then they went back to whole group and brought out the highlights, then they predicted what the examiners might want to see in a new question, and finally the students had an opportunity to write a response to that new question.

For the Year 10 students the instructor's role in peer assessment was to make sure all students were on task, generating questions that would lead the students to the next step in the learning process, stopping at individual groups to make sure they were on the right track and giving each other effective feedback.

For the Year 10 students, necessary classroom environment conditions would include: establishing a nontreatening environment, students feeling comfortable, great teacher role modeling, criterion-based references, and examples of what the teacher expectations are (what "A" work looks like).

In the Year 10 Video, the scaffolding instruction was teacher modeling what an "A" star paragraph looked like and then giving students a random paragraph for them to assess with their partner. This gave the student an opportunity to collaborate with each other.

For year 10 students the necessary classroom conditions should be that your opinion should matter, classroom setting conducive to grouping, and the teacher should guide the students as they progress.

Year 8 Student on necessary classroom conditions: This teacher had posters on the wall that gave visual reminders on proper ways to interact during peer-assessment. These included working well with peers and giving IMPORTANT positive comments. There needs to be respect among the students and teacher. Students awareness of class goals and the use of a physical show (standing up) of classroom etiquette. Constructive comments are also needed along with positive comments.
