The IKM-Manning Community School District uses a variety of ways to measure student achievement. Our goal is to create a picture of the knowledge and skills of each student that is as accurate as possible. To do this we use district-wide assessments, classroom projects, quizzes, discussions, homework, reports, and tests. This type of student achievement information helps us understand individual student progress toward district standards and benchmarks. The larger picture of students is created by the implementation of our district-wide assessment plan. This plan provides data that reflects achievement toward district benchmarks as well as disaggregated data for subgroups (gender and socioeconomic status). We are also very interested in knowing and understanding how to improve achievement by using trend data. Trend data is that which is accumulated over a period of several years and seems to tell us that a group of students is achieving well or not so well toward district benchmarks. Assessments used to gather this data include the Iowa Assessments, DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills), EasyCBM Math, and NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) for Reading, Math, and Science. District action plans are based on the review of the most recent three years of achievement data for these assessments.
